Available Works
This display has been updated as of April, 2026, but at any given moment may be out of date – some pieces may have sold, and there is generally more inventory than I can list. Work shown here is representative, but not comprehensive. If you see something you like, please send me a message here, or email me at steveforrestwoodturning@gmail.com. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have. Be sure to let me know what piece(s) you want, your shipping address, and any other important details. I will calculate shipping costs, and you can pay via Paypal or Venmo. If you are local (Sonoma County), I’m happy to arrange pick up or delivery, and you can pay with cash, check, or credit card. I apologize for not accepting payment directly through my website, but it’s challenging enough to simply keep up with inventory. Please just contact me and we can conduct business the old fashioned way.
If you see a piece you like that’s no longer available, or have something else in mind, work is happily done to order. I enjoy the collaborative process, and look forward to new challenges. If you are interested in commissioning a piece, please get in touch.
These cute little critters are available for custom order as well as in stock. Just like people, no two are alike. Hard oil and wax finish. The price is for each. Sheffield woodturner Lesley Churton showed me how to make these. Currently in stock: beefwood and cocobolo.
Various sizes, approximately 2.5” x 1.5”
Like many of my pieces, this odd piece of wood came to me through a friend, who had pruned her pollarded mulberry trees way back. Most of it wasn’t usable at all - just too riddled with inclusions, fibrous bits, rot, etc. But I persisted with this one. It’s about the least intact wood you can have and still call it a sphere. Oil/varnish and wax finish.

Pictured are plain bay laurel and figured maple. These spin well, and can be made to order. Price is each.
Redwoods are justifiably famous and revered, but I had never heard of dawn redwood until recently. A native of Asia, they grow in Sonoma County as well. This tree was recklessly removed by the electrical utility, and the owner was heartbroken. She now has some treasured keepsakes, and I have a few odds and ends to sell. The wood smells fantastic when you are cutting it - sharp, fragrant, slightly sweet and spicy. The posts are maple, sycamore, and cocobolo. For the jewelry lover. Oil/varnish and wax finish.
5.25 × 4
This is the classic Gaboon ebony, with a splash of sapwood for contrast. Dense and smooth like polished stone. Who wouldn’t want to keep their special ring in this dish? Wax only finish.
3.5 x .75
Another bit of Gaboon ebony saved from the scrap pile. Dense and smooth like polished stone. Wax only finish.
3.75 x .75
The maple base is inset with bubinga, and features maple and cocobolo posts. Oil/varnish and wax finish.
